The November 518 Musicians’ Guild Meetup will present the special guest lecture: “Taking it to the Streets: Creating the Perfect EPK” with Brendan Manley.

In this month’s 518 Musicians’ Guild free artist talk, veteran music writer and biographer, Brendan Manley will take you through the steps required to create that killer electronic press kit (EPK) that gets your band on the map. Learn how to craft a bio that leads to both better media coverage and a greater understanding of your artist identity. Brendan will also discuss other crucial EPK elements like press photos, media clippings, press releases and more. This session is a must for anyone seeking to learn how to share their story with the world.

Brendan began his love affair with music at age 6, when he dragged his mother to Sam Goody in Queens, NY, to purchase his first vinyl record — KISS’ Rock and Roll Over — and it’s been a blur of loud volumes and sweaty mosh pits ever since. A lifelong musician, he first picked up an electric guitar at age 12 and then spent the rest of his formative teen years practicing and playing in Long Island metal bands, branching out into an eclectic range of styles over the years. Later in college, he started merging his love of writing and journalism with his passion for music, working at several LI arts and entertainment weeklies, ultimately landing him the role of Contributing Editor at Alternative Press. He has also written several Hollywood screenplays and most recently launched the local music and arts site 518scene.com to promote cool, curated arts and live entertainment in the NY Capital Region.
