Blue Ranger “True Blue” Single Release Celebration

Blue Ranger will hold a “True Blue” single release celebration at The Hangar on the Hudson in Troy. With special guests Babehoven, Trace Mountains, and Stella Emmett.

Albany NY’s Blue Ranger are here to remind us that there are small moments of magic in the everyday. Formed in 2015, the trio have been crafting soft-focused folk that celebrates the beauty in our uncertainties with an existential flair. Following their 2018 LP “Saving A Beauty” (Five Kill Records) comes a fresh single – “True Blue” – where candid, autobiographical tales dance among a wealth of imaginary characters. The trio brings their propulsive folk influenced sound to improvisatory heights in live settings; the product of countless years movin’ sound.

Babehoven: Maya Bon, the singer-songwriter behind Hudson, New York’s Babehoven, views light as one of life’s few fundamental truths. In times of pain, we often look to simple things we can rely on, and light is as reliable as they come. Babehoven’s first full-length album ‘Light Moving Time’ revolves around Bon’s view of life as a confusing, jarring, and kaleidoscopic experience filled with contradictions, loss, and change, so it’s no wonder Bon often looks to light — not so much for specific answers, but as a pillar of continuity and a marker of time.

Bon has built a solid partnership with her musical collaborator and producer Ryan Albert over the last few years, releasing several EPs together since 2018. Their work displays Bon’s emotionally incisive approach to songwriting that draws just as much power from abstract poetry that asks big questions as specific, personal vignettes. Similarly, ‘Light Moving Time’ rests on lyrics that zoom in and out, inviting listeners to bring their own experiences to these songs when her writing is more cryptic, and stew in the moments when Bon presents her entire heart on a platter.

Trace Mountains: Trace Mountains is the musical project of American indie rock musician Dave Benton. He has released 3 studio records since formally starting the band in 2018, A Partner to Lean On, Lost in the Country and most recently, House of Confusion.

Stella Emmett: Based out of New York, Stella Emmett is two sound artists making pop music. Working with co-producer Mike Dvorscak, Stella has released two full length albums – the most recent being In Case of Loss; a collection of songs based around themes of nostalgia and fantasy.
