Charming showman Chandler Travis, longtime opening act for George Carlin, pairs two of his favorite new projects in this special split bill, both featuring Chandler Travis. The Buttercups finds him getting noisy, nutty and electric with legendary Casuals/Philharmonic drummist Rikki Bates. Channy n Johnny shows us Chandler’s quiet, acoustic, dignified side in a duo with longtime string-bass partner John Clark. Throughout his long career, Chandler’s excursions in bar band, rock & roll, new wave-influenced power pop, and eclectic jazz-influenced big band music have been delivered with a knowing wink and a sly sense of the absurd, yet nothing he’s done has ever been merely “funny.” He’s more like a puckish sage showing the presence of joy hidden all around us.
