Film: The Harder They Come

The Harder They Come is a classic, both visually and sonically. Reggae superstar Jimmy Cliff stars as a young man who arrives in Kingston, Jamaica, looking for work. After some initial struggles, he lands a recording contract and records his first song, The Harder They Come, but a bitter dispute with a dishonest record producer leaves him resorting to petty crime in order to pay his debts. Tragically, a run-in with abusive cops puts him on the Most Wanted list, but it also earns local folk hero status. Meanwhile, his record is topping the charts.

Location: The Addy. As with other ICFS events, expect prizes, surprises, and a convenient bar (sorry… no comfy sofas for this one).
