From suspense to heartfelt, these films offer a glimpse into the diverse voices of our community. Local Lens features films by Spencer Sherry, Heather and Hunter Frederick, Jack Colin, Elisheva Novella, Cameron Gallagher, Kyle Kleege and Charity Buckbee.
“The Monkey” Directed by Spencer Sherry
Based upon the story by Stephen King. After a near-fatal accident, soon-to-be father Pete Shelburn begins to suspect that his past has come back to haunt him. With his own father at death’s door and his brother refusing to make amends with him, he’s forced to save his family by confronting a nightmare from his childhood: a cursed cymbal-clapping toy monkey.
“Wherever We Go” Directed by Heather and Hunter Frederick
In this light-hearted comedy, college student Cara battles her social anxiety, which is personified by her inner voice, Ego. Ego’s constant negative thoughts amplify Cara’s struggles, particularly her fear of being a burden to her friend. Striving to gain some sense of control, Cara embarks on a journey to silence Ego once and for all. But that’s easier said than done!
