Rochmon Record Club Listening Party: Tracy Chapman’s Self-Titled Debut LP

On Tuesday, March 19 Rochmon Record Club will converge at Caffè Lena, 47 Phila Street, Saratoga Springs, to listen to, and learn about, Tracy Chapman’s stunning eponymous debut album, “Tracy Chapman.” When Luke Combs’ version of Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car” hit #1 on the Country Airplay Chart and then won the CMA’s Song of the Year award, I got out my copy of “Tracy Chapman” and the Executive Producer and I knew what album I would be doing soon. Released in 1988, Tracy Chapman proved that the market for acoustic folk music was alive and well. With songs like “Fast Car.” “Talkin’ ‘bout a Revolution.” “Baby Can I Hold You,” “She’s Got Her Ticket.” “For My Lover” and 7 more, Tracy’s connection to the social issues of 1988 are just as relevant 35 years later. Our in-depth look at this classic album is a special Rochmon Record Club, co-written and co-presented by Karen Garner, the Executive Producer and Chuck Vosganian aka “Rochmon.” Doors open at 6:30, and the show begins at 7 pm with a live audio & video presentation.

A Rochmon Record Club Listening Party is meant to inform and deepen our understanding of the history of the individual performers, songs and the stories that went into the making of this classic album. By listening together, we hear the music again for the first time. Rochmon Record Club takes place on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at Caffè Lena in Saratoga Springs.
