Rochmon Record Club: The Who – Tommy
May 16, 2023 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm
$17.13On Tuesday, May 16, Rochmon Record Club will converge Live at Caffè Lena, to listen to, and learn about, The Who ’s 4th studio album, and arguably the world’s first Rock Opera, Tommy! Doors open at 6:30, and the show begins at 7 p.m. with a live audio & video presentation by Chuck Vosganian, aka “Rochmon.”
Tommy was released on May 17, 1969, 54 years ago, and stands as The Who ’s breakout album, expanding the worlds in which Rock & Roll could not just exist but flourish and succeed. Featuring the songs, “Amazing Journey,” “The Acid Queen,” “Pinball Wizard,” “I’m Free” and “We’re Not Gonna Take It” Tommy is a tour de force by a band breaking the mold and stepping into their, and our, future. As is his way, Rochmon will have a few surprises in store! The Rochmon Record Club will also be streamed live on Caffè Lena TV.
A Rochmon Record Club Listening Party is meant to inform and deepen our understanding of the history of the individual performers, songs, and the stories that went into the making of a chosen classic album. By listening together, we get to hear the music again for the first time. Rochmon Record Club takes place on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at Caffè Lena in Saratoga Springs (caffelena.org), at The Linda (thelinda.org) in Albany and at the Park Theater (parktheatergf.com) in Glens Falls. Programming varies by location, please check websites for tickets and show information or go to rochmon.com for more information.
