Run Rabbit Run is a celebration. It’s a tribute to the music of Pink Floyd composed of passionate fans who enjoy the distinct challenge of recreating one of the greatest and most ambitious rock acts in history.
The Albany, NY band came together in 2020 when Carl Blackwood (guitar, vocals) and Cody Bingham (drums) of Bendt connected with Sean Fortune (bass, vocals) of Zan & the Winter Folk. The three musicians are alike in their deep admiration for Pink Floyd, among a vastness of other musical influences, but kept a special place in their hearts for the band. The move from idea to realization was quick and natural. The early jam sessions were clear indications that the music at this point is in their blood.
With practice, and a growing anticipation in the Albany arts community, came ambition. That ambition meant more players and more fans to share the stage. After a large number of auditions and a small number of personnel changes, Run Rabbit Run added their core ensemble: Chris Andreski of Flying Rob and Friends (keyboards and synths), Taunya “Lady T” Hannibal-Williams of Embe Esti (vocals), and Madison Peruzzi of Brother Junction (guitar).
The band’s debut performance was streamed live and concluded with the classic Dark Side of the Moon album in its entirety (concurrent with a lunar eclipse, of course). The video would reach several thousand views in a matter of weeks. Run Rabbit Run has played many shows sold to capacity.
Run Rabbit Run answers the Pink Floyd fans that need to hear deep cuts and live versions of songs as well as the many small details in each tune that one only catches after hours, years or decades of listening. Their following is made of like-minded Pink Floyd fans, and it’s all about the fans. The band has performed entire albums and quarter hour-plus epics like “Echoes” and “Dogs,” and are really just getting started.
The songs are immortal and the name sells itself, but it’s the love of Pink Floyd within and without Run Rabbit Run that makes this work. And the absolutely top-notch performers.
