Sara has continued to forge her bold, creative path with Copy That, which opened at #1 on the iTunes Country chart, released on her own Born To Fly Recordson May 15, 2020. The 13-song collection, spanning six decades, showcased Evans’ distinctive creative stamp on some of the most iconic songs in country and pop music, songs that have inspired her life and career, as well as shining a spotlight on some little-known gems.Copy That follows her critically acclaimed Words, which debuted at #2 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums Chart in 2017. Last year brought album and touring collaborations with her children, Avery and Olivia Barker, for The Barker Family Band.
Sara released her memoir, Born To Fly, on September 8, 2020 through Howard Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster. Named after her landmark double-platinum album, which celebrated its 20th anniversary this year, Born To Fly finds Evans opening up and sharing stories not only about her career and what it is like living in the spotlight, but about what inspires her and how her faith keeps her strong.
Sara Evans is a generational country music talent. She has five, count ‘em, five number 1 hits: No Place That Far, Suds In The Bucket, A Real Fine Place To Start, Born to Fly, and A Little Bit Stronger, with Born To Fly off the multi-platinum album of the same name. A Grammy nominee, and an Academy of Country Music award winner, Sara is at the top of her game. Her recently released album called Copy That features covers of Edwin McCain, Bruce Hornsby, Gavin DeGraw and more.
With her breakout album in 1997 titled Three Chords and the Truth, Sara Evans revealed her “stunning, country voice” (Rolling Stone) to the world. A traditional country album recorded right in Nashville, it was critically acclaimed and made the top 10 albums of the year for The Washington Post and Billboard. At just 26 years old, Sara Evans had burst onto the scene and made herself known.
At the turn of the century, Sara Evans released her most popular album to date, Born To Fly. A multi-platinum record with four top 20 Billboard songs, two million album sales, and a Country Music Association award, Born To Fly was an artist-defining album. While her previous albums were more traditional country music, with Born To Fly, Sara melded country music with pop music to create a bubbly, upbeat mix of pure musical goodness.
By 2005, Sara Evans had made a name for herself in country music, with a streak of multiple number one hits and four albums under her belt, she released Real Fine Place, her second certified platinum album. Another album recorded in the heart of Music City, Tennessee, the album featured Evans’ fourth number one hit, A Real Fine Place to Start. An album all about the love Sara has for her family, her husband, and her relationship with God.
In 2010, over ten years after her debut with Three Chords and the Truth, Sara Evans was still at the top of her game, releasing Stronger, her sixth studio album and one of her best. Sara’s powerful alto voice shines in this album. A compelling album filled with songs of love, struggles, and triumphs, Sara returned, stronger and better than ever, to deliver her fifth number one single, A Little Bit Stronger.
Recently, Evans paid tribute to some of her favorite artists of all time with a covers album aptly titled, Copy That. Featuring covers of artists like Fleetwood Mac, John Mayer, Yvonne Elliman and more, Copy That is an ode to Sara’s inspirations. It has a wide variety of music genres, and her depth as an artist is on full display. Every cover retains it’s original feel, but Sara makes each song her own, leaving her own stamp on every single one.
