$10Sounday at The Studio – Experience a night of music and video with artists Christopher Tignor, Hana Van Der Kolk and Adam Tinkle.
Christopher Tignor is an NYC based composer, violinist, and software engineer. His emotionally charged scores and unique focus on live, performance-based electroacoustic practice has won acclaim within both the classical and experimental communities across 10 LPs on the Western Vinyl and New Albion record labels.
As part of the duo Disassembler, with This Will Destroy You’s Chris King, Tignor released A Wave from a Shore (Western Vinyl) in March 2022, followed by US and UK touring, including performances at SXSW. As a composer Tignor has written and recorded work for ensembles including The Knights, A Far Cry string orchestra, and Brooklyn Rider string quartet, performing alongside them at premiere venues including Carnegie’s Zankel Hall. As a string arranger he has worked with Helios, Jefre Cantu-Ledesma, John Congleton, This Will Destroy You, Meshell Ndegeocello, and several other artists at the boundaries of popular music.
Hana van der Kolk is a dancer, artist, educator, counselor, writer, experimental media maker, and facilitator of community events and spaces formerly based in Los Angeles and currently making home, growing food, and learning place in Troy, NY. In their varied roles and projects Hana proposes more interconnected and livable futures through a commitment to moves of multi-directional intimacy and enchantment. They have performed and taught internationally, collaborated with Tomislav Feller, Asher Woodworth, Senem Pirler, Kamryn Wolf, Angela Beallor, Lailye Weidman, Emily Mast, and so many others, work with the community bike shop Troy Bike Rescue, are the gatherer of the temporary “church” A Patch of Sky, hold an MFA from UCLA’s WorldArts and Cultures/Dance Department, and are currently pursuing a practice-based PhD in Art at RPI in Troy.
