Tom Paxton is a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award winner, folk icon, and Caffè Lena performer since 1960. For this show he’ll be backed by the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter duo, The DonJuans – Don Henry and Jon Vezner. Collectively, their songs have been covered by: Harry Belafonte, John Mellencamp, Miranda Lambert, Neil Diamond, Ray Charles, Nancy Griffith, Judy Collins, Pete Seeger, Janis Ian, Kathy Mattea, John Denver, Faith Hill, B.J. Thomas, Blake Shelton, Peter, Paul & Mary, and Bob Dylan … just to name a few!
After 65 years of performing around the world and writing and recording innumerable songs and recordings, Tom Paxton is firmly installed as one of the greats of American songwriting. In the words of Holly Near, “Every folk singer I know has either sung a [TP] song, is singing a [TP] song or will soon sing a [TP] song. Now either all the folk singers are wrong, or Tom Paxton is one hell of a songwriter.” On the cusp of his 87th birthday, Paxton continues to churn out new songs, mentor the next generation of folk singers, and make magic on stage.
