Throughout his unpredictable career, guitarist Yonatan Gat has blazed a fiery trail in contemporary music. From his legendary performances with Monotonix in the ‘00s, to his explosive 2018 David Berman produced LP Universalists, Gat has created work that explores new frontiers of sound, while pushing against the restrictive boundaries of genre.
His solo pieces have been mentioned by the likes of The New York Times, Pitchfork, Vice, The New Yorker People Magazine. His music transcends and surpasses genres, falling somewhere between rock’n’roll, avant-garde and performing arts.
Gats label Stone Tapes (under the Joyful Noise Recordings umbrella) has released a wide spectrum of sound including its triumphant release of Medicine Singers’ debut LP, which was highlighted in a New York Times article as helping to usher in a new wave of Native experimental music. After two incredible Medicine Singers performances at No Fun we are excited to welcome Yonatan Gat with his band which features explosive percussion by collaborator Gladys Lazer.
