SUMMARY:The Ominous Seapods
DESCRIPTION:Welcome back the Ominous Seapods to Lark Hall for another great night of music! Doors 7pm/Show 8pm\n\n\n\nOminous Seapods are Max Verna\, Tom Pirozzi\, Brian Mangini and Ted Marotta. They were an integral part of the 90’s Jamband scene who frequently performed with or along side bands such as moe.\, Disco Biscuits and God Street Wine. Although one member\, Dana Monteith\, moved to Australia\, they reformed and are currently playing select dates around the Northeast as a 4 piece often with special guests. Their shows include all the favorites in the Seapod’s original catalog along with a few choice covers and some brand new songs as well. \nOminous Seapods built a dedicated fanbase by touring the nation relentlessly throughout the 1990’s and into the early 2000’s. They played such notable venues as Red Rocks in Colorado\, the Wetlands Preserve in NYC\, and the House of Blues in LA\, Boston and Chicago as well countless large outdoor festivals. They released 3 studio albums and 2 live. Richard Gehr of Spin magazine called their album\, Jet Smooth Ride\, one of the top ten jam band releases of all time. \nTheir music is known for its tight grooves\, intense jams\, catchy hooks and quirky humor. Each live Seapod’s show is a purely unique experience that captures the essence of their touring 90’s years but still evolves as a new and exciting project! \nThe Seapods have played a February show at Lark Hall to packed crowds for the previous two years and can’t wait to do it again in 2025. They will be joined by mandolin and guitar virtuoso\, Josh Himmelsbach and as always will have some surprises in store!

SUMMARY:Nick Offerman - Big Woodchuck
DESCRIPTION:Nick Offerman – Big Woodchuck\nAn evening of comedy with woodworking and bookish mirth \nNick Offerman\, even more hirsute than last time\, is back to remind the fans of sawdust what a living\, breathing mammal\, unsullied by AI\, looks like. With songs and notions inspired by his newest book\, Little Woodchucks\, Nick—with support from woodworker and co-author Lee Buchanan— might just inspire you to get busy making things with your own hands\, which is guaranteed to get you kissed. Especially if what you make is sausage rolls. “Canoes are sexy AF\, especially when you make ‘em out of wood.”—Nina Simone\, probably. \nNick Offerman is an actor\, author\, humorist\, and woodworker whose onscreen credits include the Emmy award-winning role of Bill in The Last of Us (HBO)\, Ron Swanson on NBC’s Parks and Recreation\, Forest in Devs\, and Karl Weathers in the FX series Fargo. He has written six New York Times Bestselling books: Where the Deer and the Antelope Play\, Paddle Your Own Canoe\, Gumption\, Good Clean Fun\, and The Greatest Love Story Ever Told\, written with his wife\, Megan Mullally. His latest book Little Woodchucks: Offerman Woodshop’s Guide to Tools and Tomfoolery is a narrative woodworking guide for kids\, large and small. \nRecent and upcoming projects include Death by Lightning (Netflix)\, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning\, Sovereign\, Civil War (written and directed by Alex Garland)\, Pout Pout Fish\, Origin (written and directed by Ava DuVernay)\, The Life of Chuck\, The Umbrella Academy\, and NBC’s Making It (co-host and executive producer). He is the voice of Beef Tobin in the FOX animated series The Great North and audiobook narrator for Wendell Berry’s The Need to Be Whole. In his spare time\, he can be found at his woodshop in Los Angeles building hand-crafted items from wood\, ranging from spoons and canoes to ukuleles.

SUMMARY:Neon Avenue Plays the Dead and Beyond
DESCRIPTION:Born from the depths of the 2020 Pandemic\, Neon Avenue came together for what felt like necessity. With the stalling of the music industry\, a creative outlet was needed for these 5 individuals. What was first a casual get together playing some dead tunes quickly escalated into a singular goal of putting together a live stream. Something special happened during these early sessions and a “one-and-done” livestream turned into something much more. \nIn less than 2 years as a band\, Neon Avenue has made quite a stir in the ever popular (and saturated) Gratefully-inspired tribute scene\, growing quickly to become one of the bigger draws in the Upstate NY capital region Dead scene. The band brings a fresh take on the Grateful music that you know and love while placing an emphasis on improvisation\, unique setlist construction\, deeper cuts into the grateful songbook and a primal energy that they draw from their loyal fans during live performances. With past appearances at the Town of Hoosick Falls concert series\, Long Lake’s “Meat.Beer.Music” music festival\, as well as scheduled appearances at Lake George Steamboat Company’s “Rock the Dock Music Festival”\, “Rockin’ on the River” for the city of Troy\, and numerous headlining shows around the Capital region\, the word has certainly gotten out about this band. Composed of veteran musicians from numerous local groups like Formula 5\, Slipknot! (80’s/90’s Dead tribute)\, Stone Revival Band\, Knot Dead\, Jocamo\, and more\, this combination of players has set out to push the boundaries of the standard Dead tribute. \nThe group of Joe Davis (Formula 5)\, Mike Urbon (Knot Dead)\, Mike Cassels (Stone Revival Band\, Jocamo\, Knot Dead)\, Mike McDonald (Formula 5\, Knot Dead) and Doug Klein (Slipknot\, Robanic\, Knot Dead) were re-inspired playing the music of the Grateful Dead\, Jerry Garcia Band\, Ratdog\, and others. While existing in an endless sea of 1970’s era Grateful Dead tributes\, this group strives to separate itself with a dedication to unique arrangements of setlists and song segues\, utilizing extended improvisation\, playing deeper cuts from all eras of the Dead\, JGB\, and Ratdog songbook. \nWebsite: www.neonavenuedead.com

Through stories\, humor\, and remarkable musicianship\, A.J. connects audiences to both his father’s iconic body of work and his own evolution as one of today’s most respected artists. \nThe tour continues to sell out venues nationwide\, earning standing ovations and glowing reviews for its heartfelt storytelling and inspired performances. \nWith over three decades of touring and recording\, A.J. SUMMARY:Hannibal Buress
DESCRIPTION:From within the bustling heart of the Windy City\, a comedian named Hannibal Buress embarked upon his journey. The year was 2002\, the location\, the Big Muddy Room at Southern Illinois University. Guided by the wisdom of his friend Chidi and sharpened in the fires of Tony Trimm’s “Sunday School sessions\,” young Buress was prepared to take the comedy world by storm. \nIn 2006\, he emerged from the shadows\, performing at Montreal’s ‘Just for Laughs’ New Faces\, an event that led to his first international appearance on “Late Night with Jörgen Raymann” in Holland. From that moment\, he continued to grow\, creating a series of successful stand-up specials including “Animal Furnace\,” “Live From Chicago\,” “Hannibal Takes Edinburgh\,” “Comedy Camisado\,” and “Miami Nights”. \nFate intervened in 2009\, when a last-minute booking on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” led to a meeting with Seth Meyers. This encounter gave him the opportunity to write for the legendary show “Saturday Night Live.” It was there\, my young turtles\, where Buress had one sketch air – a moment he credits to the creativity of his cousin Percy. He cherishes the memory of watching Rihanna uttering his lines in the “Shy Ronnie” sketch. After a season there\, he moved to “30 Rock\,” filling the space left vacant by the departure of Donald Glover. \nIn the realm of film\, Buress has proven his versatility\, showcasing his talents in “Neighbors\,” “Neighbors 2\,” “Baywatch\,” “Daddy’s Home\,” “Spiderman: Homecoming\,” “Spiderman: Far From Home\,” and “Tag.” He also provided a memorable performance as Lincoln the dentist on “Broad City” and lent his voice to animations like “The Secret Life of Pets” and “The Angry Birds Movie.” \nFrom 2009 to 2017\, Buress held court at the “Comedy at the Knitting Factory\,” his charm and wit making an indelible mark on late-night television\, featuring on shows such as “David Letterman\,” “Conan\,” “Stephen Colbert\,” and “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah.” \nIn 2022\, he underwent a transformation\, shedding his skin to become Eshu Tune in the world of music. His rhythmic anthems like “Veneers remix” with Danny Brown and Paul Wall\, the lively bowling song “1-3 Pocket\,” and the meticulously crafted “I Lift Weights” echo through the streets. This endeavor was made possible through collaborations with creative minds like Kiefer\, Tru\, Eshu Tune\, Wahsabi Papi\, Kenny Segal\, Eryn Allen Kane\, and Haile Supreme. Through these transformations\, Hannibal Buress remains a true warrior in the world of entertainment.

SUMMARY:Lake Street Dive (w/ Carrtoons)
DESCRIPTION:Lake Street Dive have pushed the possibilities of pop music as a unifying force\, not only through their eclectic sound—a boldly original cross-pollination of soul\, folk\, jazz\, classic pop\, and more—the five-piece’s all-embracing ethos has also made them a beloved live band known for building a potent connection among every crowd. In the making of their GRAMMY-nominated album Good Together\, vocalist Rachael Price\, bassist/background vocalist Bridget Kearney\, drummer/background vocalist Mike Calabrese\, keyboardist/vocalist Akie Bermiss\, and guitarist/background vocalist James Cornelison reinforced the deep sense of purpose behind their output\, often turning their attention to the many factors driving us apart today (e.g.\, unchecked technological growth\, culturally imposed isolation\, the cult of relentless self-optimization). Born from a mindset they refer to as “joyful rebellion\,” Good Together arrives as a body of work both gloriously defiant and primed to inspire unbridled dancing and ecstatic singing-along. \nThe follow-up to 2021’s Obviously\, Good Together finds Lake Street Dive working again with Grammy-winning producer Mike Elizondo (Fiona Apple\, Sheryl Crow\, Gary Clark Jr.). With its sonic landscape encompassing everything from R&B to funk to Brazilian pop\, the album opens on its title track: a left-of-center love song celebrating the thrill of defying expectation and following your heart’s desire. Next\, on “Dance with a Stranger\,” Lake Street Dive once again prove their undeniable gift for crafting feel-good songs with an illuminating message\, simultaneously inducing a carefree euphoria and gently fostering empathy. The wildly cathartic “Walking Uphill” presents gripping meditation on the work of self-repair\, while “Seats at the Bar” puts a sweetly playful twist on the classic love song. And on “Twenty-Five\,” Price shares a stark and lovely ballad steeped in tender reminiscence of a long-ago romance. All throughout Good Together\, Lake Street Dive tap into the palpable camaraderie that’s fueled the band since their formation\, ultimately delivering their most collaborative\, expansive\, and powerfully exuberant work to date.

Doors-7PM \n\n\n\n\nByrdhouse Records presents MX Lonely on their All Monsters Release Tour with local support from Halo Bite\, Mall Goth\, and PRIZE on Tuesday April 7th at No Fun located at 275 River Street\, Troy\, NY. \nDoors-7PM\, Music- 8PM \nAges 18+ (or under with legal guardian) \nMore About MX Lonely: \nMX Lonely formed in 2022 out of the ashes of other projects. Rae Haas (lead vocals/synth) and Jake Harms (vocals/guitar) sought to create a heavier\, more punk rock version of a dual-vocal\, spidery songwriting style they had begun exploring. After a few lineup changes\, the group solidified with Gabriel Garman (bass) and Andrew Rapp (drums)\, who together add a heavy\, propulsive rhythm section to the band. \nSince early 2024 MX Lonely has been touring nationally. The live show aspect of their sound has a huge hand in shaping the dynamics and feeling of their recorded music. They describe themselves as “Loud As F*ck”\, and tow multiple amps to every show.

SUMMARY:Circle Jerks & Gorilla Biscuits (w/ Negative Approach)
DESCRIPTION:Three legendary punk and hardcore bands — the Circle Jerks\, Gorilla Biscuits and special guest Negative Approach — unite for an epic tour that stops at Empire Live in Albany. With special guests Negative Approach. \nThe Circle Jerks were arguably the first band to inject hardcore punk with the snotty humour that became one of the movement’s defining traits. Cofounded by singer Keith Morris after his departure from Black Flag in 1979\, the iconic outfit fired off a string of speeding anthems like “Live Fast Die Young”\, “Wild in the Streets” and “Stars and Stripes”\, on which they lob one obnoxious joke after another at parents\, society and anything else they deem mainstream and lame. Though The Circle Jerks’ legacy rests upon their initial blast of albums in the ’80s (Group Sex in particular)\, they’ve reunited frequently through the decades. \n### \nGorilla Biscuits is a New York straight edge hardcore punk band on Revelation Records. They formed in 1987. They picked the name under pressure to have a name when Token Entry got them a stage appearance unexpectedly. \nIronically (due to their straight edge status)\, the name came from a big quaalude known as a “gorilla biscuit” which was popular in their neighborhood. The intent was to change the name later\, but it stuck. \nHowever the name was used effectively in one of their early songs which is titled Biscuit Power with the lyrics “Gorilla Biscuits in your fucking head\, one more time and you’ll be dead…”Guitarist Walter Schreifels’ later musical endeavors include Quicksand\, Rival Schools\, and Walking Concert. \nFrontman Civ became the singer for eponymic hardcore punk group CIV and is currently the owner of a New York City tattoo studio called Lotus Tattoos.Gorilla Biscuits disbanded around 1991. They reformed for a benefit show at CBGB’s\, New York\, in 1997 and August 14\,2005. \nThey did a nationwide reunion tour in 2006\, playing almost every song they wrote at every show. In 2007 they did a month-long European tour. \n### \nDetroit’s Negative Approach\, along with Maumee\, OH’s Necros\, were the undisputed champs of Midwestern hardcore in the early to mid-’80s. Legend has it that vocalist John Brannon recruited drummer OP Moore and the guitar/bass team of Rob and Graham McCulloch at a skate park sometime in 1981. Lead by the bald-headed Brannon’s hoarse wail\, the band concocted an extreme sound devoid of frills that alternated between violent and mean. This was first fully documented in 1982 on their self-titled Touch and Go 7″. The band released the more metallic-sounding Tied Down 12″ on Touch and Go in 1983\, but died out in 1985 as Brannon incubated the Birthday Party blues of Laughing Hyenas. Unfortunately lacking the more widespread post-hardcore fame of peers Ian McKaye and Henry Rollins\, Brannon’s Negative Approach has not gotten the later-day due often accorded Minor Threat and Black Flag. Negative Approach was certainly as influential as those two bands\, touching everyone from Poison Idea to Sonic Youth to Los Crudos\, as well as entire generations of hardcore fans in Boston and New York. The band was also as original and extreme as any early-’80s punk outfit — the rhythmic crush created by Moore and the McCulloch brothers continues to be an undeniable steel-toe to the face. Touch and Go compiled the band’s discography as Total Recall in 1992\, an essential listen for anyone who wants to understand hardcore.

SUMMARY:Donna the Buffalo
DESCRIPTION:Donna the Buffalo from Ithaca\, NY have played original roots music since 1989\, infused with elements of cajun\, rock\, folk\, reggae\, and country. \nDonna The Buffalo is from central New York state\, not Louisiana\, but this widely loved quintet has woven that joyful\, hip-shaking zydeco pulse into the DNA of its sound\, and leaders Jeb Puryear and Tara Nevins have wrapped that core vibe with hopeful\, mellow lyrics.” –Music City Roots\, Craig Havighurst \nDonna the Buffalo just passed the marker as their 25th year as a band and have proven to be a consistent purveyor of American music. What’s the recipe? To be sure\, it’s infused with more spices than you’ll find at a Cajun cookout by way of a southern-fried\, rockin’ country old-time jamboree. “For the dizzying array of styles and genres with which they work\, Donna The Buffalo maintain a surprising level of consistency. The New York-based band has played around with folk\, zydeco\, and many other musical ideas over the course of their 25-year career\, but they retain a sharp focus that has helped them create some truly lasting music\,” writes Elmore Magazine. \nDonna the Buffalo is Jeb Puryear (vocals\, electric guitar) and Tara Nevins (vocals\, guitar\, fiddle\, accordion\, scrubboard) joined by David McCracken (Hammond organ\, Honer Clavinet & piano)\, Kyle Spark (bass) and Mark Raudabaugh (drums). “It’s been really fun with this lineup\,” Puryear says. “You get to the point where you’re playing on a really high level\, things are clicking and it’s like turning on the key to a really good car. It just goes.” \n“You have to do just what you want to do\, and everyone likes different things\,” Nevins says. “Both Jeb and I come from this background of old-time fiddle music\, which is very natural\, very real\, very under-produced\, and all about coming from the gut—flying by the seat of your pants. So we have that in us\, too.” \nDonna the Buffalo debuted their first studio album in five years Tonight\, Tomorrow and Yesterday\, in the spring of 2013 via Sugar Hill Records. All Music Guide says the album\, “highlights everything this consistent band does\, and it has a warm\, live-sounding production… This is what 21st century Americana sounds like\, a little bit of this and that from anywhere wrapped up into a poignant\, jamming dance reel\, a place where the past and history meet easily in the immediate now and everybody feels like dancing.” \nDonna the Buffalo has released ten albums and are affiliated with several others\, including Puryear’s 2007 solo album Hopes and Dreams and a 2003 release\, Wait Til Spring\, with Jim Lauderdale. The band’s 2008 release Silverlined\, as well as the 2013 release (both on Sugar Hill) did well on the Americana Music Chart\, each placing well into the top ten. In 2011 Nevins released Wood and Stone\, produced by Larry Campbell in Levon Helm Studios\, and Mule to Ride in 1999 on Sugar Hill Records. \nThe group draws its inspiration from a cherished part of the American heritage: the old-time music festivals of the south that drew entire towns and counties together. “Those festivals were so explosive\, and the community and the feeling of people being with each other\, that’s the feeling we were shooting for in our music\,” Puryear says. “Donna the Buffalo is an extension of the joy we’ve found.” \nOver the years\, the band has also built a following that proudly calls itself The Herd\, along with a well-deserved reputation for crafting social narratives and slipstream grooves without equal. To merely call this “roots music” does it disservice\, for the roots nurtured by Puryear and Nevins run wild\, deep and strong—a tribute to how much Donna the Buffalo marries musical trailblazing and tradition. \n“It’s a great feeling to promote such a feeling of community\, like you’re really part of something that’s happening\, like a movement or a positive force…” Nevins says\, “All those people that come and follow you and you recognize them and you become friends with them — you’re all moving along for the same purpose. It is powerful. It’s very powerful\, actually.” \nAs an expansion of this community and the band’s own dedication to live roots music\, Donna started\, and are still the driving force behind\, the twenty-five year old Finger Lakes GrassRoots Festival of Music and Dance in Trumansburg\, NY\, the bi-annual Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival in Silk Hope\, NC and the Virginia Key GrassRoots Festival in Miami\, FL. DtB are regulars at MerleFest (NC)\, Suwannee Springfest & Magnolia Fest (FL)\, All Good (WV)\, FloydFest (VA)\, The Great Blue Heron Festival (NY)\, Del Fest (MD)\, Rhythm & Roots Festival (RI)\, Targhee Bluegrass Fest (WY) as well as a variety of other venues and festivals across the nation. \nDonna the Buffalo has toured the nation for over twenty five years with an ever-evolving grassroots sound and plans to keep on doing so for many years to come. \nDonna The Buffalo is not just a band\, rather one might say that Donna The Buffalo has become a lifestyle for its members and audiences. Since 1989\, the roots rockers have played thousands of shows and countless festivals including Bonnaroo\, Newport Folk Festival\, Telluride\, Austin City Limits Festival\, Merle Fest\, and Philadelphia Folk Festival.  They’ve opened for The Dead and have toured with Peter Rowan\, Del McCoury\, Los Lobos\, Little Feat\, Jim Lauderdale\, Rusted Root\, and Railroad Earth to name a few. They also toured with Ben Jerry’s co-founder Ben Cohen to help raise awareness about increased corporate spending in politics.  In 1991\,the band started the Finger Lakes Grassroots Festival in Trumansburg\, NY. The four day festival has become an annual destination for over 15\,000 music lovers every year and was started as an AIDS benefit. It continues as a benefit for arts and education. To date\, the event has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars and is now one of three Grassroots Festivals; the Bi-annual Shakori Hills fest in North Carolina and Virginia Key festival in Florida. In 2016 GrassRoots Culture Camp was introduced in Trumansburg\, New York as four days of music\, art\, dance and movement workshops\, including nightly dinners and dances. \nTake a look at their official music videos: \n“Working On That” -> http://bit.ly/1eXPofS \n“I Love My Tribe” -> http://bit.ly/1i9fy9Q \nFor more information and tour dates\, please visit www.donnathebuffalo.com \nfacebook.com/donnathebuffalo and twitter.com/donnathebuffalo \n
